Mugger loitered near shop in heavy rain before assault

POLICE hunting a man who assaulted and robbed an elderly shopkeeper believe the suspect may have been loitering near the store for more than an hour in the pouring rain before he struck.

The 72-year-old man was attacked near the Londis Convenience Store in Clovenstone Park at around 11am on Monday, and robbed of a four-figure sum of cash.

The mugger pushed his victim to the ground before fleeing towards Harvesters Way.
