Cold case

I thought aspects of John V Lloyd’s letter (12 August) were somewhat offensive.

He made a joke about former prime minister Edward Heath being the subject of investigations by five police forces ten years after his death.

He said: “The solution must, surely, be that separate police forces are assigned any future investigations into Sir Robert Peel, William Gladstone and William Pitt the Younger.”

Yes, Ted Heath is long since dead and buried, but as a society we have a duty to investigate
any claims made by those who allege that they were victims of abuse.
