Tackling Rio's homelessness

THE Homeless World Cup is to create a football community legacy centre in Rio to tackle poverty and help young people to fight against social exclusion.

The Edinburgh-based organisation is being backed by tournament sponsors Nike in the creation of the centre, which will be in Santa Cruz, a district on the outskirts of Rio.

Homeless World Cup president Melm Young said: "We'd love to see Brazil address the critical issue of homelessness."
