Next stop Cyprus as Levein regroups

Scotland will play Cyprus in an away friendly on 11 November, the Scottish Football Association confirmed yesterday.

The Friday night game, at a venue to be confirmed, takes place at the same time as the Euro 2012 play-offs after defeat in Spain earlier this month consigned Scotland to third place in Group I.

Manager Craig Levein said: “The players are all looking forward to getting together again and building on the progress we have made as a group.

“Going to Cyprus will give us an opportunity to build on the team ethic and provide another chance for players to show that they are heading in the right direction as we begin our preparations for the World Cup qualifiers next year.”

A friendly away to Slovenia in February has also been mooted.
