Sergio failed to get wages from Hearts

Hearts manager Paulo Sergio has revealed that even he has not proved immune from the worrying wage delay that once again hit the Tynecastle squad this week.

The Gorgie club’s players have had to get used to not receiving their salaries on time during the tutelage of club owner Vladimir Romanov, and Sergio has now been affected for the first time since moving to Scotland as successor to Jim Jefferies on 2 August.

“Of course it’s not good for anybody,” he said when asked about the issue yesterday. “But all the players have been informed – and myself, too – that we will have our wages at the end of the week. Since I arrived, it’s the first time it has happened. But I’ve been in this situation before at other clubs, unfortunately. I hope that, by the end of the week, it is all set.”
