Harry Ellis retires

ENGLAND and Leicester scrum-half Harry Ellis has been forced to retire due to persistent knee problems.

Ellis, 28, had his left knee reconstructed in 2007 and sustained a second injury in the same area last season.

"All last season I was taking a hell of a lot of pain-killers and I was constantly having blood and fluid drained from my knee," said the 27-cap international.

"I have had so many operations on my knee in the past that I knew it was time to retire."
