Horse Racing: Hunterview fills Pipe's win card

David Pipe has trained a winner at every jumps track in Britain after Hunterview landed the feature John Smith's Scottish County Handicap Hurdle at Musselburgh.

The five-year-old was Pipe's first-ever runner at the Edinburgh venue and the Nicholashayne handler still has a 100 per cent strike rate after The Tracey Shuffle took the concluding bumper.

Hunterview battled on well to complete the full set for Pipe, who only took over the reins from his father Martin in May 2006. Tom Scudamore had Hunterview handy and took him to the lead before the third-last and the 11-4 favourite galloped on dourly to score by five lengths from European Dream.

"He jumped extremely well which kept him in the race early on. He looked flat out, they didn't hang about, horse and jockey battled all the way to the line," said the trainer.

"I've had a winner at all the jump tracks now. Dad never had a winner at Ffos Las, it wasn't going when he was training."

Scudamore added: "It's great to win a nice pot up here for his owners as they are locals."

The Tracey Shuffle (6-4 favourite), carrying the same colours of Jo Tracey, completed the 8-1 brace after a 13-length romp under Scudamore in the Racing UK Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Vosges (7-1) rallied in creditable fashion to land the John Smith's Scottish Triumph Hurdle for trainer James Ewart and jockey Harry Haynes. "He's a fantastic little horse, he's got heaps of heart and he puts it all in," said Ewart.

"He'll cope with a big field and he'll cope with a big handicap - of course you dream about Fred Winter's at Cheltenham, which I think would suit him but I always worry that northern horses are badly handicapped compared to their southern counterparts. We'll see what the handicapper does and if he's sensible we might have a go."

The Nicky Henderson-trained Skint unfortunately left his supporters strapped for cash when turned over in the Scottish Racing Novices' Hurdle. The 4-7 shot could only finish third, well behind the winner Wyse Hill Teabags (14-1), as Jim Goldie's runner beat Moon Indigo by three and a half lengths. The hot favourite was a further 15 lengths away.

Moon Indigo's trainer Howard Johnson and jockey Brian Hughes went one better with Santa's Son (16-1) in the Racing UK Handicap Hurdle.

Danny Cook had Elite Land (100-30) in front some way out and the 3lb claimer kept the top weight up to his work to beat Folk Tune by three and a quarter lengths in the Racing UK On Sky 432 Handicap Chase.
